Cardiff Cross Challenge 2018 – Saturday 13th October

The Cardiff Cross Challenge will form the first fixture in the 2018 / 2019 British Athletics Cross Challenge Series.

The races on Saturday 13th October will take place in Llandaff Fields, Cardiff and will host the first fixture of the Gwent Cross Country League.

The event has previously welcomed many, if not most of the top British endurance runners including a large number of British Champions such as; Frank Tickner, Peter Riley, Andy Vernon, Louise Damen, Jess Judd and Dewi Griffiths.

In addition, it has hosted several European Cross Country Champions including; Hayley Yelling, Charlotte Purdue and Gemma Steel.

The season opener will provide a great opportunity to face the best British athletes ahead of the European Trials at Liverpool in November and in 2018 will also incorporate an International field of athletes as the fixture continues to grow.

The event incorporates a full range of men’s, women’s and children’s races and is open to runners of almost any age and always attracts many of the UK’s top endurance runners.

The course is marked to national standards and incorporates a mixture of flat fast running, and interesting woodland and riverside sections.

Our races take place just two miles from the centre of Cardiff at Llandaff Fields Bute Park.

Hotel accommodation is available within one kilometre of the Course. There are ample car parking spaces at Sophia Gardens which is just a short walk away.

There will be a Sports Shop, catering facilities and sports massage therapy available on the day, alongside the finishing straight.

For a complete list of races and age groups, please see the Timetable page.

Details of the increased 2018 prize structure will follow shortly.
